Now
The /now page is something proposed by Derek Sivers. The idea is to write something short, something “you’d tell a friend you hadn’t seen in a year.”

Hello! Since last updating this, I haven’t been too well. Although it doesn’t affect my work, all of a sudden one day (January 15th) I developed severe exercise intolerance. My heart rate shoots up even if I walk up the slightest incline.
As I enjoyed running 1,000km last year, this is obviously a massive inconvenience. I’m on some medication which means that I can walk a decent way and lift some weights at the gym, but it’s still limiting my personal life quite a bit.
I’m continuing to work through We Are Open Co-op for clients such as Amnesty International UK, the BBC’s Responsible Innovation Centre for Public Media Futures, MIT’s Digital Credentials Consortium, and Skills Development Scotland. This involves a range of things including Open Badges / Verifiable Credentials, AI Literacies, and digital transformation-related stuff.
Here’s what I’m currently using to get that work done, as well as some side projects I’ve got on the go.
My wife, Hannah, is now working for Newcastle Building Society as a User Researcher on a full-time contract. My son is now an adult and has just started on a BSc in Sports and Exercise Science at Northumbria University. My daughter is now 14 and playing football in the Junior Premier League. They’re all doing well.
