This week I’ve been:

  • Consulting the community and then coming up with the criteria for a new Webmaker Mentor badge.
  • Setting a date for the release of v0.99 and v1.0 of my digital literacies e-book.
  • Wrangling Webmaker Training badges. For many reasons (contribution? participation? colour scheme? platform?) it was a longer and more fraught process than it could of been, but we got there in the end.
  • Co-leading a Webmaker Training session on the ‘Building’ module (with Laura Hilliger). The platform we’re using experienced a bit of a technical failure, so we’ll be using Air Mozilla next week.
  • Planning my input at next week’s event at Oxford University around what it means to be an ‘expert’ in the web era. I’m using my wiki for that.
  • Participating in this week’s Webmaker Training discussions.
  • Inviting people to be part of the Badge Alliance working group on Digital/Web Literacy. You can sign up to be a member of the general list on the site.
  • Writing about Kit Builder and other things.
  • Remixing Tripad’s teaching kit on Markdown.
  • Working out my expenses for April. I’ve got to get a better workflow as it takes me ages!
  • Buying a house. Well, nearly.
  • Using Trello and Bugzilla like a boss. Well, as much as anyone other than Matt Thompson can use the latter like a boss. 😉
  • Meeting (virtually) for the first time as a new #TeachTheWeb team since the latest Mozilla Foundation re-organisation. Some of us will be hanging out together at the London office next week!
  • Jotting down some more ideas about ambiguity after a great volcano metaphor came to me after meeting up with my former Ed.D. thesis supervisor Steve Higgins this week.
  • Helping Chloe Varelidi with some pathways work.
  • Debating and discussing lots of things Mozilla and web-related with Aral Balkan, Laura Kalbag and Christian Payne at on Thursday evening in Newcastle. They were up for the Thinking Digital Conference, which I wished I’d attended.

Next week it’s a UK public holiday on Monday then I’ll be in London on Tuesday (helping Code Club + #TeachTheWeb team huddle) then in Oxford for the TORCH event. Back home Thursday/Friday as it’s half-term for the other three members of my family!
