I returned back to work this Wednesday after spending a couple of weeks on holiday, camping with my family around Europe. You can read about that in this blog post. Just before heading off I presented at SuperMondays on Privacy: getting beyond ‘meh’. The talk itself went reasonably well, and the slide deck ended up being featured as slide deck of the day, which got it some attention. 🙂

Since my return, I’ve been:

  • Catching up with email. This, as well as catching up with Laura Hilliger and Karen Smith took pretty much all of Wednesday.
  • Organising Maker Party Newcastle 2014. Lauren Summers from Ignite100 did most of the work after we had a brief conversation. You can read more about it here.
  • Reviewing a training proposal that Laura came up with. I think we should use badges and learning pathways to make a more fun version of this.
  • Planning for the next Badge Alliance Digital & Web Literacies working group call on Monday. I still need to catch up properly with the last one that I missed. There’s some eager beavers in that group!
  • Issuing and writing about new ‘lower-bar’ Webmaker contribution badges.
  • Reviewing the material recorded for Choir a couple of months back as part of the decoding the disciplines process.
  • Accepting an offer to speak at the Safer Internet Forum on November 6th in Brussels.
  • Walking more. Here’s why.
  • Attending this week’s #TeachTheWeb community call.
  • Using Yo for something useful.
  • Learning from Geoffrey MacDougall about ‘funnels’ and projections about user growth. That man knows his way around a spreadsheet!

Next week I’m at home all week. The week after that my wife and children head to the in-laws for five days, so I’ll be planning what to do with my free time! I might write something – suggestions welcome!
